Description

Batch process for sugar syrup clarification through flocculation and flotation.

When sugar dissolves in water, the organic and inorganic matter adhered to the walls of the sugar crystals becomes part of the syrup, adding color, odor and turbidity. Adding specific chemical reagents, the coagulation and flocculation of those impurities is achieved. Then, the injection of CO2 forces the flocs to float, causing the separation from the clarified sugar syrup.

  • The equipment is applicable for sugar syrups with turbidity low enough to achieve the necessary value, depending on the final product. The decolorization is made with syrups that have low or medium color level.
  • Decoflot uses a set of tanks with agitation to separate sugar syrup impurities through a flotation process, using chemical reactions and CO2 injection.
  • Decoflot is designed to be fully integrated with Aneko’s Contimix (for sugar dissolving), Batchdos (for chemical reagents dosage), Conticarb (for CO2 injection), and Decoactive (for further treatment if necessary).
